Project Brief

Pink and black gloss foil on duplex black colourplan.
One of my first assignments at Ernst & Young was to design the menu for the retiring chairman leaving dinner. The event was held at the stunning Orangery, in Kew Gardens, London.
I met with the event planner to discuss the theme of the evening as well as the decor. It was Thai fusion and the interior designer had planned sculptural table centrepieces with butterflies.
The gift was a pair of silver and wooden chop sticks in a black box, wrapped with a pink ribbon. I echoed the butterfly in my design with the insects flying in continuous lines from one side to the other. They are set back, yet catch the light perfectly thanks to the gloss black foil I chose. The menu items are elegant in pink matt foil and stand out very sharply from the smooth black background.
